Philosophy

"Health: A state of complete physical, mental
and social well-being, and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity."

- World Health Organization

WHOLISM

Based in the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and that the best approach to health incorporates all four aspects of a person: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The primary aim is to increase what is right, not attack what is wrong.

REDUCTIONISM

The idea that in order to understand something, one must reduce it to smaller and smaller parts. Originated with 16th century French mathematician, Rene Descartes. Human beings are machines, separate from nature. The primary aim is to attack the disease.

WHOLISM vs. REDUCTIONISM

Dependence on the doctor

"Do as I say and not as I do"

Energy system is not
acknoledged at all

Intervention

Crisis-based

Quick fix

Better for trauma & Lifesaving intervention

What are the fundamentals of Oriental Medicine?
